The Good Taste Club Elegant Supper Events for Singles Who Ditch the Apps
The Good Taste Club offers elegant, hosted dining experiences for single professionals and retired professionals aged 30+. Think long tables, seasonal menus, and relaxed conversation – all without the pressure of dating profiles, swiping, or awkward intros.
Founded in York in 2025, by cofounders Melissa Magson and Lindsey Green, the club was created as a refined alternative to dating apps. It celebrates the idea that real connection happens best in real life, especially over great food in beautiful spaces.

Co-founders Melissa & Lindsey:
“We created The Good Taste Club to bring people together around great food and real life experiences, not apps. There’s something incredibly grounding about meeting face to face, with no agenda other than a good conversation and a lovely night out.”

Our Brand Story…
-
Melissa Magson and Lindsey Green are the co-founders of The Good Taste Club, a curated dining concept that invites single professionals to connect offline, over shared food and thoughtful conversation. With backgrounds in hospitality, marketing, event catering, private dining and creative events, Melissa and Lindsey bring a shared love of beautiful spaces, meaningful experiences, and the kind of warmth that turns a night out into something special.
The idea for The Good Taste Club was born, from watching the people around them and their craving for in person experiences. Friends who were single - brilliant, funny, accomplished - but struggling to find real connection in a world increasingly dominated by apps. And from a shared belief that their own children, now young adults, deserved to grow up seeing that real-life connection still matters. That looking someone in the eye across a table can’t be replaced by swipes and emojis.
Together, Melissa and Lindsey also run Our Happy Place, a creative events business built around culture, connection, and conversation.
-
The Good Taste Club began with a single question: What if meeting someone could feel like a dinner party, not a swipe?
Tired of the disconnect that dating apps can create, Melissa and Lindsey wanted to offer something different. A space that felt grown up, but relaxed. Thoughtfully hosted, but never forced. Where the emphasis was always on good food and great conversation and any spark that followed was simply allowed to unfold.
The first event launched in York in July 2025. The response was heartfelt: guests spoke of how natural it felt, how welcome they were made to feel, and how rare it was to meet new people in such a comfortable way.
Since then, the Club has grown to include multiple age brackets and new formats, but its mission remains unchanged: to bring people together over proper food, warm hospitality, and the joy of real-world connection.
For those who are tired of apps, but not of meeting people, The Good Taste Club offers a table worth sitting at.
